Awake at 2.00am we were still trying to return to a normal sleep pattern due to the time differences.
We were waiting on our first Woolies Home delivery of food and supplies. Some they had run out of and refunded our money, but we managed get most things on our initial list - but not toilet paper! Vince’s brother, Ken had already got some groceries in for us, so that was wonderful, this was just a top up shop.
During the day Vince’s sister, Bev, dropped a few supplies off for us - and she had some toilet paper! It’s like gold these days. It was a case of leaving them at the front door and ringing the door bell.
We just pottered about, Vince sorting out paperwork stuff and I unpacking the “wedding” boxes we posted from Skye ages ago and I washed the dog, Cebar,

After “Brunch” we decided to have a nap and we both fell asleep. I was woken with the door bell going - thinking it was our Woolies delivery I went to the door only to have a lovely surprise - my daughter, Christina, and my Grandies, Amy, Connor and Piper were all outside on the other side of my garden wall playing “Up Town Funk” and dancing to it. They had left some goodies at our door, including cute snack bags decorated by Amy especially for our quarantine! How cute. Christina also brought me a generic Ventolin puffer for my Asthma (as they are in short supply) and some Cous Cous she had in the cupboard as I couldn’t get it at Woolies - very thoughtful.
It was great to see them, and a bit difficult for them as they wanted to come in for a visit, but of course couldn’t. Still it’s the first time I’ve seen them in the flesh in months - so very nice.
Life in isolation won’t be easy but it is necessary in these troubled times. We are required by law to quarantine for 14 days but the UK government were advising people at risk - the elderly, disabled, pregnant women and those with underlaying health issues or immune compromised (me) to self-isolate for 12 weeks. So that’s what we have decided to do here in Australia, to be on the safe side. Who knows if it will be even longer, things are unfolding day by day, but whatever happens at least we are back home in Australia with our loved ones nearby.
I had a chat on the phone with my sister, Jacky, in Darwin who just flew home from New Zealand and like us she is just glad to be home!
This will be my last blog for this trip - we never thought it would end ahead of time, but I am really glad to be home, and that at least on this overseas trip I didn’t end up with something broken and an operation in a foreign hospital - Wooh-Hoo!
