Travel from Heathrow to Singapore 18th March

It was a really awful LONG wait at Heathrow, and even longer on the 13 hour flight to Singapore via Qantas. I can never sleep on planes but I tried to close my eyes and just rest for some of the flight.
I was squished (and I mean squished) in the middle seat, Vince asleep on one side leaning on my shoulder, a lady from Hong Kong on my left sleeping (she was wearing a mask, gloves and protective head gear) but who also was coughing and blowing her nose - hope I don’t catch anything. It was very uncomfortable and my legs had so little room that I got painful cramps. I couldn’t wait for the flight to end. I know we had a plan B of moving to Skye - there is no way I could do this every year so we could catch up with our children and grandchildren in the off season! What were we thinking. In any case the bottom has fallen out of the tourism market, so Skye is no longer a plan B option.

It was all go when we arrived in Singapore, directly through transit, so at least we didn’t have very long to wait before we boarded the plane for Perth. Business Class was empty, but they said they couldn’t upgrade us onboard - I tell you what Qantas Points aren’t worth having!
There were only 80 people on the plane, so there was plenty of room. In any case we just had two seats together on the side of the plane, and after take-off we were allowed to move to the seat in front which had extra leg room. Still not a comfortable flight, and I felt like a zombie, but at least not as bad as the prior one. Vince again was sleeping against either me or the window.
We got into Perth half an hour ahead of schedule at midnight, and thankfully our bags arrived! Changing 3 planes with two different airlines we wondered if they would but they did.
Everyone in customs and border control were wearing face masks and those from the BioSecurity were in full PPE - like something from “ET”. I had filled in our arrival cards on the plane and indicated we had been on a farm in a wilderness area so we were directed off to one side with a smaller group of people. This actually worked to our advantage as the man just asked if our boots were cleaned - which I had scrubbed clean at Willie McLeod’s, and then sent us on our way. Straight through - Lickety-Split!
Vince’s brother Ken, and my daughter, Christina, had co ordinated to drop off our car and given us all the info we needed to find it. So it wasn’t long before Vince was loading cases into the boot as I went and paid the $51 parking ticket! This was to avoid exposure by taking a cab, so wonderful of family to help out.
It was a 45min drive from the airport, but there were very few cars on the road. We arrived home to Cebar, our dog, who was happy to see us. We just had a shower and crashed in bed by 2.00am
