Today was a bit of a down day for me, I woke up realising we will be leave here in a few weeks and going back to an unknown and difficult future in Australia without mainstream employment, so it put me down in the dumps at first.

Vince went off to do some droning but got caught up with a German film crew shooting an adventure clothing line (Camel Active) out at the Bothy at Rubha Hunish instead. Meanwhile, I caught up on some blogging whilst I waited for Alan (the crofter) to come as we want to get out and take some more photos of him feeding the animals - as that's when we can get the closest to them.

I did a few household chores including making a pot of Scotch Broth, whilst we waited for Alan to complete a few tasks before we headed out.

The morning had started dry, cold but sunny, but by the time we headed out it was pelting down. The trip over the back yard stye and out into the common grazing land up to Alan's gate was even more hazardous and slippery than last time, and on the way back I actually got "stuck" up to my knees in the bog and had a lot of trouble freeing myself. Vince joked he would have to get Alan's tractor to pull me out.

Even though it was soaking wet, we had an absolute ball taking the photos of Alan's animals.

Back at Willie McLeods, we all had some homemade soup for lunch and of course a "wee dram". I sent Alan off with a packed meal for another time, and the ham hock bone for Darky, who was at home today.

Vince went out again in the afternoon to get some more drone footage over the croft but the rain closed back in again.

I made spaghetti and meatballs for dinner and we will have some left over for during the week. We downloaded our photos and started to sort out some me might use for our surprise for Alan's coming 70th Birthday.

Another quiet night at home by the fire.

Your photos are breathtakingly beautiful - I just love the one of the dog on his own in that amazing landscape. The photo of Alan is excellent, as is the one of you.

Your cooking choices certainly suit the kind of weather your photographs depict - it always looks cold!

The world is a scary place at the moment, but it's always uncertain; even when things seem to be going well, deep down we know that all that can change in an instant. I guess the only certainty comes from within - the knowledge that no matter what confronts us, we can always turn to our inner self and survive, intact. I know you have already done that in spades.…
