The forecast was for bad weather all day - high winds and rain, but we wanted to go to Portree to revisit the Archive Centre as Vince wanted to check out some old books they were selling off, to see if any Alan had recommended to him were available. I also wanted to drop off some more pieces of wedding cake and check out postage options for sending my wedding things home.

I cooked up some bacon and egg muffins for breakfast and we were soon on our way - I had to stop for this shot of some clever sheep huddled against the weather whilst the rest of the flock were being battered by rain and wind.
The rain was bucketing down as we pulled into the Archive Centre. Anne and Catherine where welcoming as always and were delighted with the wedding cake we brought them. The books Vince wanted could be read there but were not for sale, although he did find 3 others that we bought for 30GBP. Catherine also offered to check with Armadale on any records they may have on my family names (as they are officially closed until March next year). So fingers crossed she may unearth something for me - meanwhile I saw how life might have been for them in the late 1700s to mid 1800s.

We drove into Portree and stopped into the camping store to pick up a couple of mugs to go with our thermos. The metal ones were 35GBP each so we settled for two plastic ones at 4.00 GBP each instead. Vince also checked out some Gaiters due to the boggy conditions here, and later returned to purchase some.
I stopped in at Boots Chemist for some cream for cracked heels and some moisturising cream for my dermatitis. Then I popped across the road to the post office to get some info on posting wedding cake to UK relatives and also posting my wedding clothes back home. They were very helpful there.
We also checked into another charity shop, down by the Quay, and bought a couple of DVDs for 1.00 GBP each. There was as cute black Charlie Bear called Eddie there for 25 GBP that would be company for my bears back home, but as weight and space are an issue I had to leave him behind.

Returning home we stopped at Bridal Veil Falls just before the Old Man of Storr, but the trek up was too slippery and boggy for me, even with my hiking poles I was concerned about safety, so headed back. Vince pushed on and took some shots whilst I waited in the car. I took a few shots of the Old Man of Storr as the light was fading.

Further along we stopped at Lealt Falls and tried to get a few shots despite the wind and rain.

Back at Willie McLeod’s I was thankful for Vince’s excellent fire to warm us and we warmed up a couple of Bisto Beef Dinners which we supplemented with left over veggies, mashed potatoes and gravy from yesterday’s Sunday roast.
We had a quiet evening watch a James Bond Movie - The World is Not Enough. As we were tired we didn’t get too far before it was off to bed.
