Skye put on a wonderful sunrise for us this morning - so much so I shoved my silk dressing gown on and ran to grab my camera - a few moments on the cold tiles in the porch soon told me I needed my hiking boots on (my Wellies are packed). I must have looked a site, but I didn’t care I wanted to catch the colours before the faded - the light changes so fast here you just can’t wait! inspired by my dedication Vince got dressed and joined me.

Back inside it was just toast for breaky and packing the last of our supplies into a plastic bucket for Alan.

I finished the last of the cleaning - fridge and fireplace whilst Vince did the floors. As we readied to leave our little home away from home I couldn’t help but shed some tears.

Then it was packing our cases into the hire car and off to Uig, where Shonnick the post mistresses helped us send 10 parcels back home for about £155.00

Whilst we were there Alan popped in to say a final farewell and it made me cry - obviously going to be an emotional day!

Finally on our way we took one last trip down that familiar East Coast road passed all the places we have come to love and feel part of, I said "good-bye" to every single one along the way. It rained the whole day - I think Skye was sad to see us go.

We stopped in a Portree but our usuals - the Granery and Cafe Arriba were closed so we went to a different one - not sure of the name - and had a take-away breakfast/brunch.

We still had time to kill before a 1.30pm appointment for the interview for our National Insurance Numbers (which you can only apply for in person). This was to ensure options are open for plan B, but given the global situation who knows what’s ahead! So we headed up to the Aros Centre to have a hot chocolate and kill some time.

When we finished our interviews we hit the road off the Island (still an hours drive away), over the Skye Bridge and through Kyle of Lochalsh, Fort William, Glen Coe, Loch Lomond and into Paisley around 7.15pm to the Watermill Hotel to the same room (208) we had when we arrived in Scotland way back on 12 Dec 2019.

We checked in and self-isolated in our room with cold meats, olives, cheese and biscuits and a bottle of bubbles. We were both so tired from the hectic past few days we pretty much crashed.

We arranged for our breakfast to be room service at 7.30am so we won’t need to go to the dinning room in the morning.
