We're Moving to Skye, We're Moving to Skye NOT! 24th Feb

Vince and I had been thinking of buying a B&B here since we saw the Antlers Rest, and we were pretty keen on the idea but wanted to be sure we checked everything out before making a decision, and of course the big thing would be our family back home in Australia.

Ian and Gill had previously run a large B&B and told us all the pros and cons, and suggested we look at a smaller property with just a couple of luxury rooms instead. They suggested the Beach House down at Camustianavaig. We made a call to Ian, the Agent and surprisingly we were able to all go and see it within and hour - even Rhumdog came. It was a lovely property and seemed perfect (we’d even have a resident seal), but we still had to check out a few more things and then work out if we could cope with being away from our children and grandchildren.

Ian also had another property that was a B&B at Skeabost Bridge so we also had a look through there. Our heads were whirring by the time we got back to Lan-Mara (Ian and Gill’s house) and there was much to talk about over tea and home made scones.

We headed into Portree to get some further advice from a Solicitor, Evelyn.

By the time we finished in Portree it was getting on, so we went to the West Highland Bar and grabbed a drink and some dinner before heading back to Willie McLeod’s.

We were pretty exhausted from it all and tried to have an early night but there was just too much toing and froing to relax and sleep and the more we talked about it the more difficult things became - for every positive there was a negative. Even though we were both born in the UK, and are dual citizens, moving back here is a really big decision, especially when our immediate family will be in Australia

How can you sleep on it when you can’t sleep!
